The Vancouver Canucks 2025-26 campaign has been forgetful to say the least, as they currently sit dead last in the NHL with an abysmal 16-25-5 record, with many of their players appearing in trade rumors in the recent weeks following the blockbuster trade which sent Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild back in December.
The Canucks are in a "Hybrid Retool", or whatever that means, and nobody is safe. Not even the hometown hero Evander Kane can escape the trade rumors as GM's around the league look to rip Vancouver's carcass apart.
Now, one Western Conference playoff team has emerged in the apparent "Evander Kane Sweepstakes", and the price shouldn't be too steep.
The Los Angeles Kings eye Evander Kane trade
On Friday afternoon, John Hoven confirmed that the Los Angeles Kings' GM Ken Holland is interested in trading for Vancouver's struggling Evander Kane.
The Kings, at 19-16-11 with 49 points, see Kane's playoff grit as a potential boost for their current wildcard chase.
The 34-year-old is statistically having the worst points production of his 16-season career, in the final year of his 4-year, $20.5M contract. With just 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) in 46 games in Vancouver, its safe to say Kane's homecoming has been nothing short of a disappointment.
Vancouver is open to deals with salary retention to recoup a mid-round pick.
